Ken Kielty (Math Teacher And Coach)

Kielty, Kenneth C. "Bud" passed away on April 9th at the age of 87, married 64 years to his wife Barbara. Survived by children Dan (Christine), Theresa Gade (Richard), Steve (Mary), Pat, Mike (Beth), Paul, Suzanne Hadley, and Michele Hutton (David); 19 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by granddaughter (Samantha), sister (Kathleen), and parents (Kenneth and Anna). Graduated from Roosevelt HS in 1949, attended Mankato State for 2 years prior to serving in the Army for 2 years. Graduated from University of Minnesota and was on the baseball team. Received a Masters' degree from St. Cloud State. He taught Math at Edgerton HS, Minneapolis West HS and Washburn HS. He coached football, basketball and baseball at Edgerton, West, Washburn and Southwest. Co-authored a book "Edgerton a Basketball Legend". He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and truly enjoyed family time. He loved to be active with fishing, boating, and belong to the Bay Lake Lions for 25 years. His true love was golf. He ran the Bay Lake golf tournament for 10 years and belonged to the Cuyuna Golf Course where he had a hole in one on hole 12. He was truly a person with a caring heart for his students and players. Family and holidays with a large family were treasured with great activities, conversations, and never forget the pecan pie. Service will be held on Monday, April 16th at 11 am at St Joseph Church in Crosby, MN. Visitation starting at 10 am prior to the funeral. Rosary on Sunday evening at 7 pm at St Joseph Church in Deerwood, MN. Military Honors will be given by the Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Post #557. In lieu of flowers, donations to Home Health Partnership Hospice, 320 East Main St, Crosby, MN 56441 are welcome. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
